Who We Are

VeriPath didn't start in a boardroom. It started with one scan, one question, and a $1,400 lesson in how healthcare pricing really works.

In December 2025, VeriPath's founder, Tom Dorywalski, needed a CT scan to confirm a suspected case of diverticulitis. As his doctor's office scheduled the appointment with the local facility, Tom asked them to request the cash price for the procedure. A few minutes later, they confirmed the appointment — and the price: $491.

Twenty-three years in the employee benefits industry had taught Tom what most people never get the chance to learn: that treatment prices vary enormously, and that there is a process for asking for a better one. So at check-in, after confirming his $491 cash rate, he asked one more question out of curiosity — what would the facility have submitted to his insurance? The answer was staggering. The billed charge was well over $6,000, and even after the "negotiated pricing" through his PPO network, his share would have landed somewhere between $1,800 and $2,000.

Same scan. Same facility. Same day. Tom paid $491 and saved more than $1,400 — simply because he knew what to ask, how to ask it, and what a fair price looked like.

That was the moment VeriPath crystallized. The only thing separating Tom from everyone else in that waiting room was insider knowledge: the right questions, the right timing, and the benchmarks to tell a fair price from an inflated one. Most people don't work in the industry — so they're never taught any of it, and the system is designed to keep it that way. VeriPath exists to put that same insider knowledge into everyone's hands.
